Making History II Release Date
Hey everyone, I'm MHII producer Dave McCool. You might have noticed that we took down the February 2nd release date from the site. Our goal was to be in beta by now, but we're still working on getting to that point.
Making History II is the first game we are shipping on our new Sandstone engine and multiplayer platform, and it's taking a bit longer than we had expected. We take the quality of our games very seriously and won't ship MHII until we feel that it's at a level we're proud to deliver to our community.
The game is coming together really well -- it's fun to play, the new map looks great, and firing up a multiplayer game from the web service is incredibly smooth. We are in internal testing for the game now, and plan to move into beta testing in the coming weeks. We're still hopeful for a Q1 release, perhaps using PAX East as a big send off for the game. We want to thank all of you who are hanging in there patiently; we're doing our best to make sure Making History II is worth the wait!
Thanks for the heads up on the release Dave. I'm not just saying this because I know you guys but it's a pleasure to actually see a game dev pull back a release to make sure the game passes quality control on release.
In today's games market it's sadly too common for companies to release nearly-done products due to deadlines and new releases are usually broken or at least unpleasantly buggy so this is a refreshing change to the norm.
I saw this coming, I really did. But hey, I don't mind at all. I, and I think many other forummembers with me, want you to deliver one hell of a good game that will make us happy. We don't want a game that is not finished yet, but released because there was some deadline.
I can wait, because I want something good. But I will not wait forever... :)

We would much prefer a finished well tested game out of the box to a hastily put together almost finished game

Well, as long as I end up getting the game, I'll be happy.
It's okay. I believe that longer development time means more quality.
Btw, how are you going to distribute the beta? Will it be available for download?
And let's see positive things here, now people have more time to make more awesome MHI mods before jumping into MHII!
A shame, I was also so excited for feb. 2nd ^^ Hope the beta is coming soon, cause now i have nothing to do and i might even start doing schoolwork so its serious xd
Dave, thanks for the update, and especially for doing it in a conversational manner. The consumers get enough cold, heartless double-speak from MBA hacks everywhere else.

Geez. Really can't wait to see ur game. Just pre-ordered it on Amazon. Take ur time guys becouse for me this game is far better than any total war series.
Just looked on Amazon.com and they say the game will come out 16 february. Is that now the date, or is it just something amazon came up with?
Will MH2 be available on steam when released?
Yeah MH2 will be available on steam, impulse, and all that good stuff.

DISAPPOINTED, I was looking forward to be arm chair dictator in Feb. Since this game is not looking to become another Duke 4ever, I will wait... Better fewer bugs than unplayable... YES i am talking HOI3....
I love Muzzy for many reasons, but a new one has hit my list: They wont ship a product they don't think is ready to play (unlike many companies nowadays, and I'm not just talking about HoI3's developers). Thank you Muzzy for not giving us this product yet to make sure we can enjoy it to the fullest when it is ready!

Amazon just changed the dispatch day from the 6st of march to 24 of march... Is there any more delays or is it just Amazon? :)

Or, to formulate it differently, are we talking about days ( :D ), weeks ( :) ), or months ( :S ) ?
The recently posted article has a release date of March, 26th.
Is that a official date?
I can wait over a year for this game man, I just love MH!
Maybe the Muzzylane could hurry up a bit with this game because everyone is waiting and waiting for it, its being saying coming soon for like 500 years. What is soon? How soon? Surely, Muzzylane could try to estimate the date.
