MHII Keys & Multiplayer
The second part of our loyalty program is heading your way soon. If you registered MHII you should have already received an email with an MHGold key. Coming up next: Your 2nd Making History II key.
You'll need it for the upcoming launch of the GHQ Multiplayer Service beta.
We're currently testing the multiplayer service in a closed beta to make sure it is stable enough to open it up to the community. There are still a few things we need to take care of, but it's almost there.
Monday should see the release of update 1.0.17, which adds some new things and gets us one step closer to multiplayer. We're taking it slow so we don't need to waste anyone's time with hotfixes or reinstalls. It will be worth it, I promise.
Basically, for anyone wondering about the full extent of the service, here are the main features:
- Find and join games
- Create/Host 1 game and join as many as you want
- Play from anywhere through our Sandstone browser plug-in
- GHQ will keep track of your active games
- GHQ will keep track of what scenarios are available
- The service will launch with three game Modes
- Synchronous (With and without turn timer)
- Asynchronous (Turns end once a day)
- Pre-game lobby chatrooms
- Public Games (Anyone can join)
- Private Games (Invite specific registered players)
This is all tied to your GHQ login, so make sure you have your product key registered to the right account, etc. We're working day and night to get this available as soon as possible, more info on the open beta date next week.
I have not recieved my gold key and I registered on the 11th.....
Just bought a new copy of the game from Amazon.com - are you saying that because i did not register i will not be able to log into the GHQ Multiplayer Service?
I'm fairly certain that the disk inside the box is v 1.01 -- and we are currently on v 1.0.16. I think at the end of the installation, you will be asked to register the game. DO THAT. There's really no downside to doing so, as far as I know. Now, once you install the game, the first time you start the game you should get an "An Update is available" notification. Doing the Update (which requires an Internet connection btw) will bring you up to date with the most recent version.
I do NOT know what happens if you refuse to register the game, however.
Once a day? That would be like a 1-2 year game if played on TGQ. Lol.
when will the next upgrade for single player be released plz?
OI WHERE IS MY GOLD KEY???????? I REGISTERED SINCE THE UPDATE V12.
WHHHHAAAATT THE GAME ISNT UPDATING, DONT TELL ME I HAVE TO REINSTALL ALL OF THAT AGAIN
OHH IT SAYS IT WILL RELEASE ON MONDAY WHICH IS A DELAY
General, have you tried not using your caps key for once, I'm just saying that overusing it makes anyone who does it a lot look like an idiot.? Also, read closer, update 1.0.17 will release Monday, they haven't said specifically when it would release so it isn't a delay, the multiplayer doesn't say it will be released with the update, so don't be frustrated when you aren't playing any awesome multi games on Monday.
I have a question though; since the 2nd MH II key is required to play multiplayer, can the 2nd key still able to register for a new game? I'm just a little confused as to how the key is incorporated into the multiplayer.
Yes, that General fellow certainly does look like an idiot. +1 for cavetroll displaying much patience and understanding.
Um something on topic ...ahh good job ML, looking forward to trying out the Multiplayer soon :)
I got nothing.
I have not recieved my gold key either and have all 3 registered???
nice! thx ML, big step forward! I wish all MHII`lers nice multiplayerbattles, so still waiting for translations....and the movable units^^ grz from berlin/germany
Hah! raspberry I got my Gold key a couple weeks ago. Sorry, Luft!
Count me in on the MP Beta, for sure.
I am hoping that some of the things Muzzy is saying above are just worded wrong. It comes off as you need 2 keys to play MH2 with multiplayer (the original key from buying the game and the new one they are sending). However, what I hope they mean is that your original key will allow you to play the game and multiplayer, while the 2nd key can be used by a friend to play MH2 and multiplayer too. If two keys were needed to play one game I think that would be stupid. They original statement they made about the loyalty program seemed to suggest that we were being "rewarded" with a 2nd key, which could be given to a friend, or used on a 2nd computer. I sure hope this is the case.
yes, i got my free MHII key. Thsnks guys. Looking forward to multi-player next week.(one week of holiday left) keep up the good work. take your time
@snapjaw - Only 1 key is required to play multiplayer, and the 2nd key is yours to use as you see fit. The way the web based multiplayer will work is that if your GHQ account has a MHII key registered to it you can play.
Op, I got one. But I'm still kind of confused. I didnt get a second Gold key?
@MajorLufbery. You got 1 MH Gold key and 1 MKII key, because your registered your MHII and was an early adapter. Now go play and be happy and say thanks to these nice people.
@dave Thanks for confirming that info.
@Orama. I didnt, get another MH Gold key. :P
@MajorLufbery It's probably because your french and going to give it away to the first german you see :P
@Orama Epic win xD
@Orama. Epic immatureness. -_-
I have also not received a key for gold only a key for MHII.
Hoping i get it : D
I have received both my 2nd Gold and MHII keys.
Thanks, apreciated.
"Play from anywhere through our Sandstone browser plug-in" means that I can play online from my Linux-Mozilla 3.6?
What have you tested it with? It would be very apreciated if that way even Linux owners could play online MHII... I'm available as linux beta tester if needed.
I have found some more infos about Sandstone I was not aware of from here... http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/4234/moving_hardcore_gaming_to_the_web_.php?print=1
I understand that is for windows but still have hopes that a linux version could be run. Have you tried it with Wine?
Thank you ML for the second key! And thanks for the Gold Edition key too- I'm really enjoying this game. ;)
If anyone has not received either their Gold key or their second MHII key send an email to techsupport@muzzylane.com and we'll get you figured out!
I got my keys thanks!
Dave, How long will it take to get a reply from techsupport@muzzylane.com? Because i'm curious how long i must wait tell i get my MH Gold key.
Update?
Almost, ran into some bugs and we are testing the fix now. If not tonight, early tomorrow.
still haven't got my keys or an email of any sort from you guys, amazing game but im starting to become dissapointed. I am owed 1 gold key and 1 mh:2 key, i would like them please.
I have installed MHGold on 2 computers downloading from Impulse.
Both have the same key.
How can I change the activation key on one of them to play on the network?
