Update 1.0.18 Now Live
We're headed to PAX this weekend, so we wanted to get the update up with enough time to make sure everything was working properly. There are some AI tweaks, some bug fixes and some big changes to the map.
The alpha testing is still underway for the multiplayer service. We're maxed out on testers right now, but PM Zen, tdurkee or Chris for invites as we open space for more testers.
We tweaked some things with how text/fonts show up in the game, so you might notice some look kinda big. You're not crazy, we see it too.
I hope we see some of you at PAX, we'll be on the skybridge. Stop by, say "hi" and maybe get yourself a free shirt (If you ask nicely).

I want a shirt!
New map?
Did I notice that the "Lakes without water" have been fixed? or was that in an earlier patch?
No, that was an earlier patch.
@TehBoss - the lakes were fixed in 1.0.17, although the look of Lake Titicaca was improved in 1.0.18.
Good update.
yay thanks guys
Man you guys are like Stardock with supporting your games, thumbs up here!
Way to go ML!
When are these updates coming to the steam version? We are still on 1.0.16.12592.
Indeed the steam version needs to be patched to v1.0.18. It's still on v1.0.16.12592 and launcher v1.0.16.12613
Please update the Steam version!!!!
Ooo-la-la :). Now this is the game :). Graphic is reeeeaeeelly improved - it's really nice to play now.
For Some reason the French in LDOP have only one fleet when in other scenarios they have more. What happened?
For the next patch, MuzzyLane should make it so that you can relocate units in the region like in Making History 1. Sometimes, the troops are stationed at the border and its hard to tell which region they belong to, so players need this feature to relocate them to the centre of the region.
Please please make this fix.
I support Soldat98.
In addition, sometimes in MHI Gold we had a huge number of enemy armies and was impossible to understand how big was the force in total in that region. If MHII can behave the same, please add a function so that I can see total strenght in a region. Another way would be to make the icons bigger or smaller in tiers according to a function of attack/defence/strenght.
I support Soldat98. Thx ML
Agree with Soldat98.
P.S. Great work! the game is super fast now .
We need multi select!
After I installed the latest patch: The game is fast but when it gets over 200, it starts to lag a bit. When I clicked end turn, it really start to lag and it takes ages to get to the next turn sometimes causing not responding. Also, the pan camera isn't very smooth like in Making History I.
The game still needs performance improvement, when I was playing Making History 1, the game starts to lag a bit after about 800 turns. In Making History II, it starts to lag in about 200 turns. So this has to be the first priority to be fixed.
Another thing that has to be added is the editor for Making History 2. Add more scenarios for the next patch and reduce memory usage, speed up the game more.
It seems that a lot of people actually get better performance after downloading the latest patch.
But my game still lags a bit. I am running in window mode in 1024x768 with 76ghz refresh.
My specs:
Nvidia Geforce 9600GT 512MB
2.8GHz AMD athlon x2 dual core 5400+
4GB of RAM
latest video drivers
windows 7 ultimate 64
Loading a new game should remember my previous options: right now AI intelligence is reset to 5
You need to change the whole diplomacy setup, and add immigration
Revised trade agreements not always are handled correctly and appear to stay in limbo.
when a fleet is moving to a port there is no indication on how many turns are needed.
this is obvious if you are just outside but if I plan to go over the ocean to a port ,,,, I'd need the info.
how can I resupply of fuel military ships very far away from home?
in the reality neutral ports would do the trick...
@ariete. I believe you can send a fleet fully fuelled and join it with the fleet without fuel and then the fuel is handed out to all the ships in the new fleet
thanks ian. that would be very inefficent.
btw, it's impossible to give territories to puppets before the war is over.
Anyone have ideas of how to fix my problem?
In the next update, Making History II should have features which you are able to spawn desert troops and jungle troops. And desert troops would wear sand color uniforms while jungle troops would wear green camo uniforms. Each type of soldiers would have benefits and combat modifiers in different environments. This idea is similar to mountain troops in MH2.
The game would be so good without the lag. Right now, my game still lags, I am in tun 576. It lags really much. probably 5-10fps.
@Soldat - Are you talking about end of turn times? You could try putting up the on-screen FPS counter (I believe it's CTRL+ALT+I) and know for sure what FPS you're getting. Are you seeing a big difference between, say, turn 1 and what you're seeing now?
I have a silly question..... its not necessary to download all the updates to be up to date right? just the latest one?
Oh no worries I'll just install the latest and see what happens...
@Ming - No, the latest update has everything from previous updates. Having previous updates should make for a faster update - but it's not necessary to have previous updates installed!
hi, how/where can i download the patches? and all the previous patches are needed too? fat thanks!
If you launch the game and you are connected to the internet, it should prompt you to download the latest version of the game if there is one newer than the one you have installed.
thx, but its not there :( any chance to do it manually?
@play - buy the real copy of the game?
yes
If you download the demo of the game from our site and unlock it with your product key, it will be the latest version of the game.
I tried this, then quickly I had 100,000,000 resources somehow, and then late in the game it said I didn;t have enough coal, even though the amount was like 300,000,000. Whats causing this?
thanks zenmoken, ill try it
@play - Did you buy it through Steam? If so then that's not going to work (and is also why you haven't gotten the update yet).
I havent played the game for a while..probally its because Im waiting to find out if te updates good enough...and I bleieve that this is a succes for Muzzy Lane, 5 stars; Good job M.L., Good F*%$ing job.
While in alliance currently any nation can declare war or piece and the other follow by. There should be a voting and an option to exit the alliance.
Thanks
BUGS
Oil exploration doesn't apper anywhere.
I have built aircraft plant in Milan but can't build any plane. The list is empty.
Do you have an airbase in that region?
:-( really not... thanks
You are right BUT usually plant have an airbase integrated. Think if this is a change you want to make.
Finally, I won the game, I'm very happy that I could finally do it with the help of the latest update, it was still slow like around 570 turn, but man I had a lot of fun. I played with Romania, it was tough, cause the CCCP attacked me early, and I had to loose a lot of resources just to defend myself. I like to thank the software developers, this game deserves every $ I spent. I like the way its connected the whole world economy, trade routes, the way you can sink enemy trade ships and isolate GB, so many details you have to think and have the option to do it. Its blowing my mind. I was sitting with the calculator, and analyzing different production facilities, and what products to do to make more money. I think this is the first time I played when income management is so important. And I found that playing weak countries is a lot more fun, when your goal is not to conquer every region, but just to survive a couple of years. Very challenging like Civilization in God difficulty.
Thank YOU!!!!
Slow around 570 turn? :) I'm on around 300 and when I press Next turn button it takes usually 1,5 to 2 minutes before I can do anything in next turn... That's kind of frustrating :)...
@Blebla - That's not normal! What spec is your machine? Could you export a save from that game and send it to support@muzzylane.com so we can try and reproduce it and see what we can do to speed things up?
It's been well over a week, when can we expect the next update? And do you have any idea when multiplayer will come out? And the editor?
how long it takes to update from v1.0.0.0 to 1.0.18live
I read through and saw a question as to when the updates would be available for steam buyers. Not yet answered unless I missed it. Would be great if that was a priority to make it available for us if it is not yet (still on version 1.0.16). Thanks tons!! Great game, freinds and I cannot wait till multiplayer is available online : )
