I still have the same problem

Make sure you completely exit steam after deleting local content to make sure it's got the update. Easiest way to be sure is to reboot.

Austria Hungary did it. I tried expanding early on and this new "sphere" caused them to declare war on me! It was too good. Lol

The Linux version will only be available on Steam. We will be turning it on shortly - just making sure we are setup to debug problems if they are reported.

One suggestion: make a script that checks the system telling what libraries/moduls are missing.

I should be able to download that one in advance, few kB and check my system.

Making History in the News see all
  • Muzzy Lane officially releases its epic WWI strategy game Making History: The Great War
    January 29, 2015

After months in public development as part of Steam's Early Access program and a public beta at its own site, Making History: The Great War is now in official release. The game, a grand strategy title centered on the era surrounding WWI, puts players in the role of national leader during a time of unstable empires, rising nationalism, and the emergence of modern, industrialized war. Players can take actions to write their own page of history.

  • Making History: The Great War Developer Diary 4: The Steam “Early Access” Experience
    January 20, 2015

With the game about to officially release on Jan 29th, lead engineer Dave McCool, MH designer Ralph Gerth and I (Chris Parsons, product manager), were reflecting recently on our experience having a game available to the public on Steam’s Early Access. We’ve been hearing a lot about Early Access lately, including some criticism from players who bought in and then were unhappy when the title they purchased remained in Early Access too long, or, in some cases, never emerged. These are perfectly valid concerns. Like Kickstarter projects, buying into a creative process in the early stages of development isn’t a sure thing. So what’s the view from the developer side?

    September 15, 2014

At the forefront of this is Muzzy Lane Software’s Making History: The Great War, the latest installment in the educational videogame series designed with consumers and classrooms in mind. The game debuted on Steam Early access on April 4th of this year to coincide with the 100 year anniversary of the war. It is due for a September 9th release. The game’s primary focus is Grand Strategy where players are tasked with taking on the Great Powers (or smaller nations such as Cuba) and steering them through the conflict using military, economic, diplomatic, and even domestic tactics.

  • Dave McCool and Chris Parsons discuss TGW and Muzzy Lane's other projects with GamesAndLearning.org
    September 04, 2014

The team from game developer Muzzy Lane are set to launch their latest version of their long-running world simulator game, Making History, this month. • Armchair General previews TGW
    July 17, 2014

"Although the graphic and mechanics are similar to Muzzy Lane’s World War II games, play in the new game is different. The world—even Europe—was not as developed in 1912 as it was in 1933. Gaining wealth and increasing military might is a function of building factories in cities. These factories must have well-developed rail systems, and only Britain and most of Germany are well-heeled in this respect. Powers such as Austria-Hungary and even France didn’t have enough double-tracked lines to expand their manufacturing base or easily move troops. Colonies in Asia and Africa not only have poor transportation systems but very backward agriculture. "
