oh one time in ETW I won a battle as Prussia with about 240 or so men, jsut fresh from the invasion of Saxony. Prussia was prepared for war. Austria declares war. Prussia invades Silesia. Victory. I bring my army out of the Saxony capital, again with about 240 men, and they attack Bohemia. We won a battle against over 800 men. I was so friggen happy after that!
Read below for a mini AAR on what happened next:
After I beat the Austrians pretty bad. I began to move southwards into Vienna. I attacked with a combined army from Silesia and Bohemia, and we were defeated. Mighty Prussia. Before we knew it, the Austrians went on the offensive and pushed me back into Bohemia and Silesia. I attacked westward into Hungary, we won some minor victories, and then we were again eventually pushed back. I requested peace with the Austrians. I would pay them 3,000 gold, and give them back Bohemia to make peace. After all, I only wanted Silesia. Instead, the Austrians countered my offer requesting that I make a trade agreement with them, and I pay them double to make peace. Bah! The fools! I rejected without hesitation. I vowed to teach the Austrians a lesson. I brought in fresh troops from West Prussia, East Prussia, and Brandenburg. They were new recruits, many without generals or any experience. But it was the best the Empire could spare from our other wars. In a lightning fast offensive. I faked an attack into Hungary, and simultaneously attacked Vienna once again. I was suprised with the results. Heroic Victory. We were outnumbered monstrously. 400 Prussian troops against 900 Austrian troops. And we won. After that, the Austrian military never recovered. Eventually Austria unconditionally surrendered.
nice!

I've had quite a bit of fun with the Total War series. I've had quite a few epic battles as well as epic outings in the Campaign. I sort of gain an lose interest in the Total War games repeadetly, but I always have fun.
DEMONS
I once won a battle in ETW in which i played as Pueblo Indians and destroyed the spanish :) I lost 550 men while they suffered 1,256 (I had 1,490 men they had 2,010) (oh and i got the indian pack)

I just purchased a few days ago Empire and after playing for hours at a time, I don't understand why so many people hate the game. I haven't experienced a crash yet and the game has been fun (kicking the Brits butt one battle at a time as the Americans hoo-rah!). It's been more epic than Medieval so far.
Although I have noticed that pathfinding for units in Fort battles in rather bad at times though.

I played shogun when I was younger, and I can confidently say it was nothing compared to Medieval:total war. Shogun was just to damn hard.....or I was too young, I couldnt even get past the archer tutorial in which you had to fight cavalry. For me Medieval was easily the best one, simply because of the region based system, and the fact that you could have armies of just royal guard :). Best win I ever had was as Novogrod against the mongols, literally around 300 vs. 3000, but I destroyed them :) (even though it was probably more down to autoresolving with a commander whos stars left the screen and having only royal guard) . My second favourite is probably M2TW then Empire then Rome.

In many ways I like ETW better than NTW - Empire has a 'real' grand campaign, while the NTW equivalent has only 5 countries and they're allready headed for a 4 vs. 1, and it's smaller, too.
The ETW multiplayer bit looks great (it was added in a patch around the time of NTW's release) but while I'm slightly partial to france or prussia, the guy I play with is massively partial to Britain (and hates france) ... and we're playing cooperatively. It gets difficult to have a reasonable mix of nations.
Still, ETW has gotten very good since its release, so I wouldn't worry too much about the bad press it has gotten, but NTW seems to be rock solid, so...

I agree, but there is this download for ETW that allows you to play as ever nation and something for NTW thats the same thing.

There is also one for Medieval 2, and it owns being the Papal states, its a bit of "I excommunicate you!", then "I will take you back in for XYZ provinces and bags of cash" and if its a no, the Crusade time lol.

NTW looks more like a standalone expansion of ETW, not a real game... RTW, M2TW and ETW owns.
BTW, I conquered all the world as Austria in ETW = kickass.

That's what NTW actually is :P
As Britain I had conquered all of the Americas, all of Western Europe, the Balkans and all of Africa. Everything was as advanced as possible. It was 1850 and I was about to launch a huge invasion force against Poland-Lithuania and Russia to have the rest of Europe then onto India to have the world and the game decided to crash. Every time I loaded the game and clicked end turn it came to Russia deciding what to do and every time it would crash. It annoyed me so much I uninstalled the game as I couldn't face going on again knowing how much effort I had put into my British campaign
