It would be great to seem some degree of weather affecting the game. Too much detail and it becomes tedious. But some - like what season and latitude you're at - would add something significant to the game - esp. when attacking the Russians.
But would be important other places - such as attacking Jungles in the summer months. Europe during the rainy fall or spring, etc.
Something relatively simple would fit well with the overall level of complexity in MH, IMO.

The game already does that. If you look in the 'Fortification' box for a territory (I think, don't quote me boy I ain't said s***) it'll have weather mods in %.

You can see the season under the date in your general HUD.
From my many looksies at the XML of MH, I think that there are certain penalties for each season. World Aflame (A Mod) makes the seasonal penalties more realistic.
I dont think weather should get real technical, then it just makes everything confusing.

I'd love for the weather to be really complicated. You could hide your destroyer flotilla is a rain squal from the carrier battle group or make your move on the ground with the enemy's planes grounded.

4 Words:
Battle of the Bulge.
Battle of the Bulge would be a cool thing for MHII. Reach the Meuse and capture Antwerpen before the weather clears and allied air-power can shift the balance of power.

Major,
Are you convinced now?
Btw, the 'no airsuport due to bad weather' thing, how could that work in the game? Just no being able to give your planes an order (with or without notification of the reason?) ? Or, by big reducement in the effectiveness of the planes. In the last case I think about planes not finding their target, collision in mid-air and crashes during take-off and landing. Speaking of that, there won't be differance in combat losses and losses due to crashes, right?

Its probably best to go with the planes can't fly option. That way the ais don't keep sending their planes suicide missions in bad weather

Alright, so you've won me over, to an extent. I can see how weather could have a large effect on some scenarios, but, to another extent, isnt there a good change it could slow down gameplay? I dont know this for a fact, i'm just laying down a concern.

In real life, weather did slow down warfare significantly (I know very little about modern warfare tactics and doctrine, and thus whether it still slows down warfare)

With the advent of nightvision equipment, personal GPS, unmanned drones and hi-res satellites weather (and darkness) are much less an impediment to modern armies than those of our grandfathers. Soldiers all ride now (APCs, IFVs, helicopters) so there's a little less slogging around in the mud on the way to fight. Nonetheless, extreme weather (snow storms, dust storms, monsoons, ect.) is still as much a curse now as they've been throughout history.
That's only my take on it, of course.

When the weather slows down the game, if brings in some planning aspect of when to launch an attack, and how to preparer for it. I mean, D-Day was during the summer (Although they had bad weather in that period). D-Day in the winter, that would not go as good as it did. Imagine snow on the beaches and in the mainland of France. The Allies planned to do a landing, a landing in the summer, partially by night (paratroopers). The chose the summer because it has relatively good weather to start military operations.
On the other side: Attack when the enemy doesn't think you will dare to attack. In mid winter, hard conditions, you are crazy if you attack now. But when you do, you might take 'em by suprise. Or you die honorless...

No, I mean, gameplay. My computer is not superfast, and MH Gold takes a little while to do things, so i'm worried about slowing it down that much more.

I am worried too. I have MH original, and when the nations have much orders to give and a lot of units on the map, my pc is slowing down too. That is why I still wait for the system specifications...

Not exactly. The weather can have strong impact to use planes (like last German offensive: Battle of the Bulge, Allies couldn't use planes). Other example is impact fog, rain to degrease level of logistic.

Another cool scenario with weather a central factor would be to capture Moscow before the winter sets in. Also in April and other months the mud would make everything much slower when advancing
