What's the biggest goof you've had while playing making history? -
I was playing as the USSR once, i was the greatest nation in the world, i made the mistake by joining the allies and declaring war on Germany in 1950 and got raped 5 turns later. The bulk of my military was destroyed and the germans were pushing even further into Russia.
Industrialized a city to 200 IPU's, my only one that big, and I realized too late that it was in an area that would give me a big penalty.

Nuked all of cities in UK and Ireland just for the luls, sorry Paul and Wolf

Messing with Germany as Czechslovakia in Rise of the Reich, mostly because Hungary or Romania would come and rape me from behind while Germany fought me back, though even after taking out Romania and Hungary, I've still be destroyed by Germany.

I played the 1933 scenario as France once. I mistakenly gave the Germans too much time to build up their infastructure and military forces. I invaded in early 1934. I conquered HALF of Germany. I lost a battle of 2 French Light Tanks defending against 12 German Basic Infantry. At the time I failed to recognize the importance of a mobile reserve and this resulted in the encirclment of Hesse. 12 French Early Tanks lost to 21 German Basic Infantry and 3 German Early Tanks. 90% of my army was lost while trying to break in and out of Hesse. Later, mainland France fell, followed by a British DOW on Germany, and an Italian DOW on France and Britain. WW2 had begun, and the odds looked quite grim for the allies.
Mine was that I as Germany started well, build a heavy army, a strong air force and a new navy! I had a feeling that nothing could stop me. I invaded Austria in 1938 ( started in 1933 ) Switzerland at the same time, AND Poland and Danzig. When Danzig, Austria and Switzerland had lost I invaded both Luxembourg, France and Czechoslovakia! This was SSSooooo wrong! In 1939 I had Austria, Swiss, Luxembourg, Poland, Danzig, Denmark and soon Czechoslovakia. But with the declaration of war against France the Commonwealth alliance joined France and attacked me. Italy joined me but that didn't help so much! After four weeks of battles with France, USSR declared war on me to! After total 34 weeks ... I were destroyed! But that was a long time ago ...

I once was playing as the USA in rise of the reich, by 1937 WWII had started with Britain, France, Republican Spain, they were against Italy, nationalist Spain and Germany, Germany began to lose, I declared war on Canada and Russia and Britain and France totally kicked my ass by invading from the north.
Is that cheese?

As Germany just now (i've way improved my skills btw) i played the scenario "Blitzkreig" after the fall of France, i invaded Yugoslavia, then Greece. Italy, as historically, joined the Axis, and became more of a problem than an ally. Their continuous operations delayed my operation Sealion. My navy was now able to take on the remainders of the british navy (i completely bombed their navy to dust). I invaded britain... It was a success i didn't even think was possible. For some reason, the British never once attacked a reenforcment convoy that was being ferried across the channel. I made the mistake by invading Ireland. the USSR left my alliance. And when italy invaded Portugal, i decided enough was enough, and I left my alliance with Italy. When I asked the USSR for an alliance, they rejected. I asked the Italians, and they rejected. I was all alone... in a world at war...
Played as Germany, patiently waited til Austria and Sudetenland fell into my hands, conquered Western Europe and mistakenly attacked Republican Spain, an ally of USSR soon the US attacked me too after 40 turns the war was lost

My biggest goof is always allying Japan as Germany. They are too bloodthirsty. None of my peace treaty get past them.

I started building my army and around Feb 1939 hell breaks loose. Germany attacks Poland and check this: USSR, France, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia and China allies with Poland and attack Germany all at once. By October 1939 Germany and Italy capitulates. The allied nations (UK and the others) and myself just watched the USSR alliance doing the job for us. I just had to quit the game, because there was nothing left to fight (China has also retaken all of its cities from Japan).

Why don't you take over Japan then? After that, the USSR will attack finland, which causes some allies to leave the alliance. I mean, the USSR is pretty aggresive, so sooner or later it will mean that Nations will not join them in each fight, and eventually attack the USSR instead. Might take a while (use it to produce armies/research more) and prepare to take over USSR.
I might take to long, and the USSR good grow to big. All I am saying is that I think it might be just to early to stop with playing.

No actually the goof is the situation. Japan was already too weak, The Russians and China were beating them in Manchuria and Korea, I could have crashed them in 5 turns - and then what? Jump straight in a cold war situation - The US against USSR? I wanted to fight strong resistant Japan and maybe Germany - then do the USSR. I still have the save though. I could continue the scenario, maybe together with Britain I could fight the great USSR - France alliance.

In rise fo the Reich I played as Germany but kept my military forces small as I dumped all of my IPU's into research. Soon I could produce heavy tanks which I did in abundance. Due to the toughness of the unit and its offensive strength I unleash my tanks against France. France however had been spending its time building a huge arsenal of light and early tanks itself. I soon found myself to be outnumbered at least three to one and with their defensive bonuses I was defeated. With the core of my land army laid to waste the French counter attacked. I was able to hold out for about twenty turns but my reliance on superior units with inferior numbers cost me the fatherland.
