Adolf and Tojo's mistakes of War
said on Jan 27, 2010 at 08:27 PM

Adolf Hitler's mistakes:

  • use the Jews as labor workers

  • Wasting the best German planes over Britain

  • invade the soviet union

  • starting the war too early

Tojo's mistakes:

  • invade pearl harbor with Aerial Warfare and not land

  • Encouraging his troops with Imperialism and not Superiority of their people

  • Too desperate for expansion (ended up as an unstable expansion)

  • wasting war resources on killing Chinese civilians and wasting their morale on raping chinese women

  • not advancing their technology fast enough like the US

note: please have your say as well

Invading the USSR was a good idea. There was going to be war eventually with the USSR, and 1941 turned out to be a very good time to do it considering how the Soviet troops were not prepared for defensive operations in 1941. The mistakes were made after the invasion started

In that case, one could say it was a mistake in the long run, even if it was an awsome idea at the time.

Another mistake of Hitler's was that he helped the Italians way too much in places like North Africa, Greece, and Italy towards the end. Hitler wasted too many materials and men helping the Italians with their problems. Eventhough being an ally means helping the other members out but Italy never really did anything for Germany the last time I remember.

The only Tojo mistake I can recall was that i believed that he used the same secret code so that made Tojo extremely predictable however. I'm not sure if that was true or not though.

Mistakes I can think of right-off-the-bat:

  • He changed German bombings of British radar stations, to terror attacks on London.

  • He invaded Russia in the Summer in anticipation that somehow the Wehrmacht could win a quick victory in Russia.

  • He sent elite German units away from the flanks around Stalingrad, and had weak Croatian, Romanian, Bulgarian, and Italian units take their place.

  • He ordered a break in to the encircled 6th Army in Stalingrad instead of a breakout.

  • He could've taken the initiative after the defeat in Operation Market Garden, and could've made a push to Antwerp.

  • He occupied Italy, which kind of made him loose alot of Italian support.

  • He attacked Crete instead of Malta (Seriously, in MH, would you rather attack Crete? or Malta?)

  • He didnt use any V2's on the USSR. V1's and V2's could've affected the morale of the Soviet Union, especially against Moscow.

I believe the attacks on London started from a German airman who got lost but found himself over a city with lights on so... bombs away. From there on the attacks started swinging towards London.

he actually thought he was over a field (blackout was observed in britain.) the bomber had strict orders not to bomb london. as well the v1's and 2's needed specialized launch platforms made of concrete that needed to be transported for miles. it would have taken too long and the possibillity that the v1 or 2 could fall into soviet hands was too great to risk.

as well the jews as labour workers is iffy. i hate it but it is cheap. although using them in important areas is stupid because they'll sabotage everything.

tojo was sorta forced to go to war due to the embargo however if his millitary was less greedy he could have prepared better. not advancing technology was also sorta wrong. it's not like they didn't try they just weren't as technically abled as america.

Well the main Japanese mistake was not listening to the Japanese people who had actually been to the USA and seen how much more of a industrial advantage the USA had over Japan

Hitler's number one mistake was thinking Britain and France wouldn't go to war over Poland

Correction: Italy sent 235,000 troops to Russia to assist the Germans in Barbarossa.

Italy was more or less a liability as Italy never got a chance to upgrade their military equipment before the war

They were basically fielding WW1 level equipment, while every country they fought had more modern equipment

Actually, bombings switched toward london after a British bombing of Berlin.

Hitler changed the targets from radar stations to London out of anger and vengeance.*

a german bomber accidentaly bombed a london suberb so britain launched a full raid on berlin and then the rest, they say, is history.

most of the italian artillery was captured guns from the fall of the austro-hungarian empire.

As warman states a German pilot got lost. The British in turn bombed Berlin. Hitler seized upon the shocked Berlin populace by stating the Brits had started it and would return the favor. That's when the Luftwaffe switched tactics.

If that one pilot hadn't gotten lost the course of the war might have been totally different.

No offence, the Italian army is a bunch of scarecrows. Why? because their black shirt uniforms look frightening like they are storm troopers but in reality, they are just a bunch of paper men.
