Eastern Front - '41-'45
said on Mar 09, 2010 at 04:23 AM

I'm currently developing a new game. I'm using 8-Bit WW2 Sprites to show the units and their animations.

It's based on the Russian theatre of World War 2. There are a total of 12 missions. And due to my ease of creation from the sprites, I just might be able to finish this one in time for you guys to play it. I worked on it for 2 days, and I now have a playable Alpha version. Remember, the game is in it's earliest stage, so do not expect everything to be perfect!

Well, its kind of a turn based battle game. You can currently only play the Russians. Although I plan on adding a German campaign where you play later during the war.

As for those 12 missions:

Bialystok....Minsk....Kiev....Odessa....Sevastopol....Smolensk....Moscow...Kursk...Kharkov...Kiev 2....Courland....and Danzig

Those arent in their respective order, but at least you guys have a list now.

Eastern Front: '41-'45 Alpha

Welcome to the 8-Bit Eastern Front comrades... - Special thanks to Pillbox Phil who made the sprites.

How to play: -

Pressing Full on Blitz engages your troops in a full attack command. Every shot fired has a random # of damage to a certain limit. For example. A Red Rifleman causes anywhere from 1-15 points of damage. The T-34 causes anywhere from 1-18 points of damage (to balance it out). German SMG gunners have anywhere from 1-5 points of damage per shot. And they have 3 shots. So the max amount of damage they can do is 15 points. German Panzers have 1-18 damage points, like the Red T-34.

Presing reinforce adds anywhere from 1-25 points of health to your army. But you do not get to attack. So use it wisely.

Couldn't finish it. It would be too big of a project for me to handle alone. Besides, even if I had help, I'm probably the only person on this site with Adobe Flash.

Yup, eventually.

The Germans will have an equivalent to the Russian Maxim Gunner (MG-34)

The Germans are going to have a heavy recon, and the russians a light recon.

It seems just like luck and repeating Full on Blitz over and over and hoping to win. Lol pretty fun though. Keep it up.

(Nice Advanced Wars Sprites :P)

Haha, or repeating Reinforce over and over until you have enough health to ensure victory ;)

(Nice Advanced Wars Sprites :P)

Holy crap! How did you know they were Advance Wars sprites? I thought was the only one here who even knew about the game!

Well, unlike alot of people on these forums I'm not anti mainstream games or game systems, and I'm a big Nintendo fan.

I played the game and got to level 5 and got frustrated and quit :P. Pretty fun game though. The sprites are so obviously WWII related that you just can't help but to put them in a game like this. I always thought of the countries as USA, Russia, Germany and Japan rather than whatever their names was.

Adobe Flash Professional Creative Suite 3 (CS3). It used to be Macromedia Flash, but then Adobe bought them out. There's a Flash CS4 as well, but I cant get the hang of it, so I stick with CS3.
