CA is returning to "Samurai Warfare," I must say, I'm looking forward to it!

Those screen shots mean nothing they do that every time - release great vvideos etc but the game invariably turns out a massive disappointment.
Count me out. Ive played TW games to death and am absolutely sick of them. Its always the same - CA release bugged game, you play it in between all the patches restarting the game after every one only to find out that eventually the game AI isnt all that good anyway and the mismatch of battle and camapigna ctually doesnt work all that well. And the seiges are invariably atrocious. No Ive had it with CA and the TW games. Rome TW was the last good game they made and the only one I really played to death was the original Medieval Total War. And even then I had got fed up with it by the time the expansion pack had come out. Its just a money making franchise now for them every game is the same and SHogun will be exacftly the same as ETW but with differnet units.

shogun was the best of the total wars, rome was good too but only with mods
empire is the best tw ever.
I'm sorry if you believe that; Empire was good, yes, but the best? No, not even close, not having played the first Shogun I have to go with Rome as the best.

I believe Empire: Total War is the best one in my opinion for the sheer scale and that I prefer rifles over swords as well as being awesome going about colonising.

I have played Shotgun,Rome,Medieval 2 (include Kingdom expansion)and Empire. Im really a big fan of this series. :) Empire has many innovative features which you can only find in this game of tw series
1 you actually command navies
2 do technology research
3 both melee combat and shooting combat
4 change government type(revolution)
And it also has a better graphic quality.
Shotgun was good but not very balanced. The geisha assassins are so strong that they dominate the game which makes the game not so fun.

So does Napoleon, to be honest.

That was just what Empire: Total War should have been minus the limitation to the European theatre. It was meant to be an addon for it but there were so many changes it became a stand alone game

I haven't heard of Shotgun: Total War. Are you commanding a gun there? How are the battles?

I agree ETW is the best game in terms of evolution (better graphics, technically better battles, cool research system...) but is not even close as charming as RTW.
I played ETW (only auto-resolve battles), but I spent much more time in RTW (not the expansion) and M2TW Kingdoms (the Crusades!!).
I'm looking forward to see a WW1 game of the series but, to be honest, I prefer the melee/arrow battles.

I think I agree with just about everything in this post.

I third this motion.
The best game of the series would be a Rome 2: Total War!
Just imagine the naval battles (using the new system from E:TW) between Rome and Carthage!

Supposedly Rome: Total War 2 is the next game or the game after that (as some people say they won't release two sequels after each other but a new game in between, maybe WWI) after Shogun 2: Total War with I expect naval battles like what they have done with the new Shogun. It would be awesome indeed Rome 2: Total War
“We think about this a lot,” he told us, “There’s a big difference, going from Nineteenth Century to Twentieth Century… We could do a World War I game quite well but I’m not sure it will be fun to play.”
We also suggested that Rome: Total War 2 would seem a likely choice for the next game in the series, to which he neither confirmed nor denied the prospect: “Rome 2, yeah… that’s interesting.”
Some information regarding it from someone at Creative Assembly. Read into it what you will xD

ian241289 how are the naval battles in Shogun 2 different from Empire total war?
Nobody in this world is any more important than a grain of sand on a million mile beach, and if you have got an ego problem that's because your grain of sand is covered in seagull crap.
