ian241289 how are the naval battles in Shogun 2 different from Empire total war?

Japanese ships of the era were full of samurai swordsmen and archers, so we’re focusing a lot on boarding systems and stone-scissors-paper interplay between different ship types. Another big addition is the inclusion of land masses at sea: this provides new terrain-based tactical play as well as helping orient the player. We think we can make naval battles in Shogun feel very fresh & new – and be more fun to play than ever before.

Basically instead of cannons it is archers and boarding the other ship is more important while land masses can be utilised into tactics. No D-Day style invasions as of yet though.

Looks cool.Thx mate.On another note i have been thinking it would be cool if in the future they could make a ww2 game in a sort of total war style. Like a mix of making history and blitzkrieg 2. The sea battles would be fun even if you had to make the gun ranges smaller for gameplay sake.

No problem. I agree with your idea for a WW2 total war as well. They attempted this with War Leader: Clash Of Nations but it was let down by being rushed and insanely buggy then being basically abandoned by the developers

There is. There was something similar on Empire if you boarded the other ship. It's a more advanced and improved version of that. It's multi-tiered fighting on the ships as well. Ninjas going ape shit

I'm an avid TW fan (TW: Medieval 2 blows the ones before and after it out of the water), but this looks like a massive step back in the series for me. Plus I would never be able to play TW: Shogun 2 on my laptop on it's lowest settings. I need a friggin Nasa grade computer to get the quality in the screenshots, so it's never been about graphics for me. It's just playing as Samurai's and all that, nah.
