I have been trying to buy supplies and get aid as the UK to no avail. The only things I get are off the world market when there are countries offering surplus. But I drastically need some arms and food to avoid going bankrupt and no-one will give me any. Any trick to managing to do this? In the tutorial the player gets aid pretty easily so whats the secret?

I got only 2-3 times aid by the AI, and they offered it to me. But if you want arms and food, it doesn't look good for you. I never saw AI selling arms, food only at the beginning

Well actually Ive realised that if I reduce my coal production I can increase my steel and arms production so thats what I am doing plus you can find out which countries want coal from the exports list and then try to sell them more which is also what I have done. So things are starting to improve for the UK. But Germany has almost taken France and is starting with Belgium so I dont have much time left. Mind you I command the seas and my war in East Africa is going well against the Italians at the moment. But teh Germans have a massive amount of infantry - over 100 divisions compared to my paltry 10. So Id better make damn sure they dont get across that channel.
