I found a cool Hearts of Iron 2 AAR on the Paradox forums just recently. It's from Germany's perspective in the Goterdammerung (1944) scenario and I thought it was worthy of mentioning. The RP way of doing the AAR can also be seen here on the MH forums, and It's a cool similarity between our two games' AAR's.
Cool! Thought we were onpy ones doing game aars.

I think HoI and Total War series are better suited for great AAR's than MH is.
While I don't know about HoI, I agree with Total War, the ability to actually fight the battles makes it better.

AAR's can be interesting, but really, theres just nothing there. No real substantial information to grab someone. Basically, they get pretty bland.

Battlefield, as in, Battlefield 2 and such? If so, I'm not really sure how an AAR for a multiplayer FPS is going to work out XD
Imagine a Counter-Strike: Source AAR
"There's a guy right there, bust through there and there's a guy on top of the stairs BOOM HEADSHOT! Guy comes around the corner AND GUESS WHAT HAPPENED MAN??"
"Uhm, Headshot?"
"BOOOM! YEEAAAHH HEADSHOT!!!!!"
It's more about a day-story. Joining a Server, joining a Squad etc. and the one I read was about Project Reality (I <3 it)

Starting reading the AAR. There's plenty of words to read :O
About 5/6ths through though xD
I tore a path screaming through wind and blood, I will it all, burning deep, in my, skull
Yea I am definatly going to read this one, it's great but... really long. I'll just try and read a few pages a day to make it last, right now I'm on page 4 of 67.
Reading this makes me want to dust off my HoI game(not literally, as I bought them on Steam XD) though I probably will go back and just play MH instead because HoI 3 was very dissappointing, the amount of micromanaging required to play that game is really a game breaker and after 30 minutes of not dealing with it all and everything just starts falling apart then its no longer fun and I stop playing. I wish I had gotten HoI 2 instead of 3, though I might just buy it anyways cause for HoI 2 and the two expansion packs are only 12 dollars on Steam.
The dude who's AAR it is is still carrying on with it and said he would carry on with the AAR till Germany controlled the world

It seems so, unless he completed the game and wrote the AAR afterwards but it doesn't seem that way as he is asking people to help make decisions in game so it seems the game is two years old

He should've just stopped the AAR when he stopped WW2. Whether it be sending the Russians back to Siberia, or setting big ben ablaze, he would've ended the war, and his goal reached.
-_-
..it is a long ass aar. a good one though..
He will have done this after defeating the US troops in the Balkans. Would be interesting to see how he takes on the USA and UK homelands. It is incredibly long and starts to get boring with a lot of it having no fighting. It is extremely well written though and to say English isn't his first language it's nearly impeccable

I think the AAR was perfectly fine until 1945. After 1945, it just became a wild goose chase to destroy everyone but Germany. I dunno, maybe It's just me, but I like AAR's where the writer follows some sort of historical boundary, I just don't like where the USSR player invades Canada for no reason. I like where the USSR player will invade Nationalist China to support Communist China's victory in the civil war.
All that other un-historical bullshit totally kills AAR's for me.... except MH AAR's for some reason.

I dunno, I just like MH AAR's where the player goes apeshit crazy around Europe. I guess because HOI is more of a WW2 simulator than a sandbox, the second the German player invades Siam, is the second I stop following that AAR.
As for MH, I won't really care that much. Mainly because if I got the chance I would do the same.
