In my game, ever since I got it when it was released, the text is all blurry though the map and sprites look fine. I have tried updating directx and my graphics card without any luck and have also tried almost every combination of screen resolution and game resolution. Its not too big of a deal but its just damn hard to figure out what the text is saying, though I have begun to figure out which letters each blur and smudge is. I have been meaning to connect my laptop to my tv to see if that will work but I just havent gotten around to it. I'm also wondering if it's just me since all screenshots I have seen from other members on the forum are crystal clear. Any advice on how to fix my game and my eyes would be most appreciated.
What graphics card do you have? Are you forcing any filtering modes? Forcing AA enabled? Chances are that something is being forced on for you - that's normally why you'll see weird graphical effects like that.
You can always try sending us a DebugView log before you start the game and we'll see if anything obvious pops up...

Diart was over the top, but the graphics of MH2 are not great. The 3D models are reminiscent of Flight Simulator 2004 add on scenery at best. Check out Nagasaki - one of the port buildings is sitting in the middle of Kagoshima Bay. It is this lack of finesse that disappoints in the graphics. I personally prefer the graphics of MH1 over MH2. But that said, the graphics don't stop me playing or enjoying the game. I wouldn't lose any sleep if they never improved, but it would be a nice bonus if they did. The main thing I would like to see is the 3D models looking more tightly integrated with the map surface so the 3D graphics do not just look as if they have been cut out and glued onto the surface (eg the graphic for coal reserves).

Thank you for being very reasonable, if we had rep, +1

It turned out that I had my text size at 125% so I turned it to 100% and now it looks perfect, I never woud've thought to look around my control panel if you hadn't made me think about it. Thanks for your help.
Huh, weird! Thanks for letting us know what you found it was - that'll be useful in future if anybody else reports that. Glad it's working properly for you again!

Diart seemed strangely familiar to Nats who got banned for having a pirated version of the game
I tore a path screaming through wind and blood, I will it all, burning deep, in my, skull
The graphics, at least in the demo are jagged, it's like AA isn't doing it's job and whether or not the term is correct, the textures look a bit unsharp or blurry to me.
(I guess this forum won't accept photos, the two urls above are photos from the demo of a unit and a unit and a city)
Now the old saying that the graphics don't make the game and that the gameplay is more important than the visuals, while might be true to some, theres no reason a game can't have both for a quality product. I guess I expected a much more improved graphics set than what was put into MH2.
I guess I'm one of those people that like my gameplay and my graphics too.

Oh my God, we are still talking about this? LOL
OF course we are! Hell, ever since Diart first pointed out that nearly all the rest of us missed the fact MH2 had horrible graphics I too have a problem with MH2. It came from reading this thread. I have suddenly started seeing everything, I mean everything, as being poorly pixelated. Even my wife's roundels are jagged, where they were smooth. I would demand my money back but I doubt I would get it.

Are you asking your money back because you didn't like the game? That's childish.
Next time try the Demo first.

If you are on about Parusski he is being sarcastic I believe :P

Yes is being sarcastic but there are others that aren't.

Ian, you are a great guy-always a big help. But I am serious. I have even seen a doctor about it. Unfortunately he seems to think I am joking, weird, insane or ANAL. I am right, no doubts about this problem I am having. My wife, dog and kids look like really bad graphics from a really bad game.
Oh yeah Odanan. I did get the beta, the minute it was available. The game is great, graphics could not be better. My problem has been caused by this thread. It has altered my visual perception of the world, except for the graphics in MH2. My wife actually tries to monitor the threads I read because I react poorly to whiners-except for myself. HEHEHEHE

"Pixelated vision" isn't exactly common, but it is definitely more common than "rare". Just do an online Search and you'll see what I mean.
There are two factors involved: the retina and the cornea (lens). The retina is sort of like a carpet of very pointy fibers that come to an even surface of points. The "fibers" are your cones and rods which are the light receptors for the optic nerve. They work pretty much like your computer monitor with its pixels-per-sq-inch. The more pixels you jam into that sq. inch, the smoother the lines and curves you see on the screen. When the pixel count goes down, the blockier each pixel gets as they get further apart. The blockiness is because the graphics card is bleeding color from the pixel point in the center to the halfway point where it runs into the neighbor's bleed area of color. The retina doesn't quite work the same way; it doesn't do a color bleed. In a case of someone that has a low cone-and-rod density, you get an effect like you are seeing the world like a painting of dots instead of strokes. Example The closer the dots, the more the colors flow together.
There are several things that cause the cones and rods to separate, making a person see the world in pixels. One is an ocular migraine. Another is visual snow. Things get trickier when the problem is in the cornea. Normally it functions just like a contact lens: a flexible continuous surface. But changes in age, diet, pH balance, etc., can start to affect the flexibility of the cornea that make it behave less like ONE continuous lens and instead like several million jam-packed lenses. (Think of a spider's "multifaceted eyes" and multiply by a million.)
Now the most common culprit in this modern age is to be spending a LOT of time staring at digital images. The eye starts to get "in tune" with the images and your photo-receptors start to synch with the individual pixels on the screen in front of you. The effect is that you start seeing a mass of individual pixels instead of the blended colors of the images. And the effect stays with you when you look away, until the brain and the eyes "loses the signal" and the effect wears off. That is, stop spending so much time looking at computer monitors.
And, btw, instead of an M.D. or G.P. doctor, you should be consulting an ophthalmologist.

Thanks ian and Captainpatches. I think the biggest help would be to stop looking at this thread.

Yes I actually liked Nats' posts. He seemed a sensible bloke who could see things the way they are and I enjoyed reading what he had to say - entertaining I thought. Actually he was banned for being suspected of owning a pirate copy not for actually owning one. And well, to be honest, I cant really condemn piracy when developers such as Muzzy release bugged games - they are shooting themselves in the foot. Pirate games are so easy to get these days and no one will buy games that are online playable only so it really makes you wonder when the games industry is going to go. Maybe they should just release great games again like in the 80s/early 90s with proper printed manuals, maps, keyboard layouts and beautiful boxes and the like and people would start buying them again, rtaher than at the moment when you get a DVD case with quick manual (if you are lucky) a disk that doesnt play on install until 4 months later when you dont want to play the game anyway. And one that you cant sell either because of the protection activation. Stupid it is at the moment.
