I'm looking to set up an MH Gold multiplayer game. I'd like to see a 4 player game, 2v2. If anyone is interested let me know.

I'm very interested, if I can figure out how to link up. I have Hamachi-2 installed, but always get an error message from the game. I'm available in the evenings until very late at night.

I like the "Blitzkrieg" scenario for the way it handles R&D, but "End of Diplomacy" and the 1936 scenario are fine too. Since I'm a relative newbie, I'd prefer not to be Germany, the USSR or the USA, but anything else is OK. When I play solitaire, I always use the "Normal" difficulty setting - in multiplayer games, do people use the harder settings to give the "unmanned" countries more of a chance? Thanks, Huxley

Try to install the latest version of hamachi, it's called log me in hamachi 2. If it doesn't allow you to connect it may be because your firewall or proxy settings are preventing it. Us the hamachi support page for additional info, https://secure.logmein.com/support/hamachi2/ .

It will most likely be better to play a shorter scenario, so one starting in 1936 would be much to early. Either 1939 or Blitzkrieg would be the best options in my opinion. I haven't played MH multiplayer games so I'm not aware of what the usual difficulty setting would be. I wouldn't mind setting the difficulty a little bit higher then normal but setting it to high unbalances the global economy in ways I dislike. Besides the main goal in a multiplayer game is to play against another player, if you can take advantage of the computer's weakness so can your opponent. Lastly, the later the scenario the least important the difficulty as it only modifies computer IPU output.

Anyways I'm sitting in the red thunder MH gold room most of the time. I'm on GMT time, what time zone are you in?

I'm in the United States, Central Daylight Time - it's 10:00 am here as I write this. Your time appears to be about 6 hours earlier. I stay up quite late, so that may not be a problem.

The "Blitzkrieg" scenario starts in May 1940, with the various parties already at war, and Germany already in occupation of Poland, Denmark, and Norway. The USSR, USA, and Italy are neutral.

I'm just about to sign off, but I'll try the Hamachi "chat" feature with you first - it seems to show you're logged on.

Thanks, Huxley

Per your suggestion, I checked the LogMeIn-Hamachi website, and I seem to have a firewall problem - I cannot "ping" your computer successfully. I'll work on it with a friend who knows more about computers than I do.

Still the fact that you managed to chat with me means you were able to log on to the network. I was in MH2 when you sent me the message, but I'll catch you some other time.

Now if we can only get 2 more players and we're set to go.

Good news - I was able to join a game between FDR and TehBoss today, in the Red Thunder MH2 network, as an observer. (They were quite good about my barging in uninvited.) I should be able to link up whenever we can arrange a time.

One thing that surprised me was how fast they took turns. They were playing Nationalist and Communist China, as allies. Playing France or even Italy seems to take me quite a bit longer.

You thought we were taking fast turns? I thought we were going pretty slow lol, mainly because both of us kept going afk.

They were playing Nationalist and Communist China, as allies.

Well, you gotta do what you gotta do to stay alive ;)

It should be a primary directive to try and take turns under a minute. The first turn can be slower but generally you should only have to manage a few things. The reason turns go slowly in single player is because, as a gamer, we have the need to make sure that we've taken care of every little thing.

If you're up for it we could play a game just the two of us until we find some other interested individuals.

Yes, that would be fine, Crestoneanu. But unless I'm playing something as small as Spain or Argentina, I may find it hard to stick to a 1 minute turn. Like you say, I've developed the habit of checking everything - Goods production at exactly 50%, not purchasing commodities from likely rivals or enemies, checking territorial development levels, etc. I'll have to learn to set priorities and ignore the small stuff. Oh well, doable challenges are the fun part. Who would you like to be?

P.S. - As far as I can tell, it's 2am where you are, so I'm not expecting an immediate reply. I did just send a "chat" message via Hamachi.

Thanks, Huxley

Actually I'm still online. If we get together tomorrow we should have a 3-8 player game. A country like Spain or Italy should be significant enough without being overwhelming.

I'm game for most nations except Japan and the US. I'll probably chose whatever is left from USSR, Germany, UK and France.

Hopefully I'll see you tomorrow. Remember meet up between 8 and 10 GMT.

Great! If I've got GMT right, 8pm GMT should be 3pm CDT (Milwaukee, Wisconsin - same time as Chicago, Illinois). I'll do my best. Like I said, the "Blitzkrieg" scenario is a favorite of mine, but anything will be OK.

Thanks, Huxley

We managed to get together yesterday and did a 6 way 1936 standard scenario. The players were US, UK, France, Germany, Italy and myself as USSR.

The game developed in a very interesting way. Japan declared war on me on the 5th turn of the game, it costed time and resources to take care of them, but it brought the USSR closer to the US, eventually forming an alliance that would last close to the game's end.

As was to be expected Italy and Germany formed another alliance as did the UK and France.

Relative peace followed for a few years whilst the war between USSR, US and Japan continued. Until one day the UK and France had some misunderstandings with China and went on to conquer them. Up until 1941 only small countries went on the be conquered whilst peace was maintained between the big 6.

On the advent of 1941 the USSR decided to liberate mainland China and India, a war in which the US refused to follow. Following through with a lightning war China, India, Burma and Vietnam found themselves under the benevolent rule of a new communist regime.

Unfortunately for the USSR, they had neglected to consider the UK and France's Balkan Allies and the eastern front was lightly defended. By the time enough resources were freed to take the eastern front seriously the UK and France managed to perform a well planed D-day close to the Russian heartland. The USSR administration somehow managed to miss the hundreds of tanks on their door step until they had already taken a fair number of regions.

Still the war wasn't over and US economic aid was keeping the USSR well above the floating line. Once the main forces reached western Russia the battle truly began. A ping pong game followed were the USSR forces were slowly grinding the enemy down, but at sever cost to the economy. As the situation became clearer the USSR accepted an offer for peace which forced them to join the UK alliance. In the end the only lost territory was a small portion of Ukraine which had been liberated by the capitalist pigs.

The game soon ended as the overwhelming force of these allies went on to conquer Germany and establish a new status quo in Europe and the world.

The communists now ruling the entirety of Asia would buy their time for the right time to overthrow the evil western democracies.

Hamachi is quite easy to use. Just download logMeIn Hamachi from the internet and join our room Red Thunder MH:Gold with the pass: mh . There is usually someone around at every time of day and we play frequently around 8-10 GMT. There is another game coming up tonight.

Anyway, here's an update on yesterday's game. We had: France, UK, Germany, Italy, Japan, US and myself as USSR.

Japan and USSR joined forces early on to take down the evil nationalists in China as a response to their unwarranted attack of the beloved communist China. Soon after the US came in for some easy land grabbing.

Meanwhile in Europe Germany was aggressively taking it's historical territories a move that would eventually lead to its downfall. Italy on the other hand suffered some internal administrative issues (player left) and surrendered all its territories to Germany. But when Germany decided to conquer Poland they found themselves under attack by it's allies France and UK(both players) who quickly overcame Germany's defences on the western front. On the war's end however an internal dispute between France and UK led to a quick and bloody war between the two which ended in France's defeat.

What followed was a period of relative calm of about a year in which no significant wars came about and the world was happy. However the evil Britons were not content with their unlawful claims and decided to take charge of the USSR. Luckily for the proud communists they had been preparing for the inevitable conflict for some time. Although both forces were relatively matched (with a slight advantage on the UK side) Russian tank manoeuvres forced the British tanks on the defensive and their eventual doom. A white peace followed soon after.

After a period of another half a year of peace, the UK took advantage of a weakness in the US's plans and struck down a transport fleet of 72 tanks. In the war that followed the USSR joined to US's side and followed in a difficult tank war across Europe. Eventually however the UK was removed from Europe and the world was safe again (Under communist rule mostly).

Long live mother Russia.

PS: I am not a communist.
