Woooow, i can't believe that it's going to be September 1st again! Time has flown by so quickly! Now, we can say, 61 years from now, WW2 started.. tomorrow. But it wont be epic until we can say:

"69 years from now, WW2 began." <<< now that.. is epic.

But if you think about it ... soon there will be no more men/soldiers alive from this era. They are almost all dead. There are no high ranked officers left, just the (well back then) young troops left. I dont think that there is any soldier left from the beginning of the war from Germany and France.

This makes me depressed cause if you think about it, more and more people cares less and less about WWII and its effects. I think that we are the last generation who will be caring and have the profound knowledge about it.
I think that when we are dead, no one will ever care about the effect of this war.

It will fall into oblivion.

In the educational sciences, this would mark an important transition between "told history" and "written history". As long as a generation that could actively participate in a certain event is still active in society, the history of said event is being told - can be felt, if you will. In short: The holocaust for example will soon loose any last emotional impact on the general, non-jewish population, other than being described as horrible in written words.

Similar experiences of transition of historic views where reported back in the 19th century about the Napoleonic wars, and then again about the American Civil war, and so on.
