i remeber one point in the crisis. the canadian dollar was above par so a news person gave a kid a canadian 5 in north michigan and had them buy an ice cream. i then watched a lot of american comercials, and tv shows, and then a few canadian shows, hard to tell the difference.

o and there was this one comercial about health insurance that made me laugh because in canada we get free healthcare. and thats why im not afraid of circular saws =)

Yes, but we are looking for more, in depth situations, I think.

That's what my thought is, if we wanted every little detail the first thing I can think of is...

  • We are still here
  • Our name is still the United States of America
  • We still have the same shape of our country
  • We still have a President
  • We still have a military

Need I go on?

So yes, there are many things different between now and the 1940s. I feel like I just finished a school report. :{(

Well, Roosevelt pushed through the new deal which several economic experts say lengthened the depression is similar to Obama pushing the stimulus through and that not doing anything.

That's historic revisionism. The far conservative right has been trying to discredit FDR in order to take a shot at wiping out Social Security. I never read nor heard a peep for the first 25 or so years of my life about the New Deal making the Depression longer. Now, in the last 6-7 years there's been this sudden uproar from some odd element of economists. I find it hard to believe it'd take 70 years for economists to go, 'Holy s! FDR really did f it all up'.

The previous regime left us in a world of hurt. They openly ignored the signs of impending doom. Yes, some of the things Obama will try will fail. But sometimes you need to throw s*** at the wall to find out what sticks.

I must say, a very original metaphor.
