Virtually everything on this update list comes directly from community requests. You said "Make it so!" and we said "Aye Captain!" First we did something all of us have been wanting to do for a while--alter oil costs to make oil a more relevant part of the game. We also altered the costs of building and maintaining factories. Both of these things have been tested by us, but we are eager to see how you feel about them. Too much, not enough? We are trying to get optimal game balance and your feedback is critical here.

Next, a bunch of editor features have been added. Check out the Region Paint area and you will see a bunch of tabs have been added to set Religion, Culture, Ethnicity, Nationality, Historic Nations, and Colonies. You can set ethnicity in templates now, and alter model sets for nation templates. You can also set starting treasury amounts, and Regions can set unemployed MPU amounts. Any nation can immediately build Universities now. Much more! All as you requested. Enjoy!

UPDATE 5/9/12: Launcher bug that prevented loading saved games has been FIXED!! We also added yet more fixes to the editor, including a fix for research that prevents creating a new nation with no capital city and new nations can now set treasury amount. Also, an old architectural city type never developed (African) has been removed. NOTE: You will need to be certain "Client Process" is unchecked in the Options menu as we continue to make changes to the launcher.

Once again, thanks for your help and we apologize for the inconvenience you experience sometimes being to our "prereleasians" -- the "test pilots" who sometimes get the jets that crash. Our rapid development updates would not be possible without you!

Updated release notes are HERE

Turn that pre-release back on! 1.27 fixes are in.

We've updated the 1.27 pre-release version. The animation issues are fixed. We've also optimized notification filtering, fixed an issue with liberating nations created in the editor, and added improvements to the platform. Thanks for your prompt feedback everyone!

We've updated to the latest version of our engine (not much user visible but sets us up for further performance improvements and features), fixed the AI editor bug, and added support for editing more things. We've also sorted out the Nigerian/Nigerien flag issue!

Updated release notes here

"Making History: The Great War" in development - due later this year!

We are happy to announce that we are in development on the next title in the Making History series. "The Great War" will focus on the events leading up to and through World War I and it's aftermath. One of the major additions to the game will be the need to develop a strategy for governing your conquests. The colony and puppet system will be expanded, and governing policies added. People don't like to be subjugated, and you will have to strike the right balance between the carrot and the stick to keep everyone in line. We'll also be bringing you all the cool military technology of the day such as Artillery (the Paris Gun, Trench Mortars), Warplanes (Fokker Triplane, Sopwith Camel), Submarines, Poison Gas and Chemicals, and more. World War I is a great period for Making History - diplomacy was fluid and mostly non-ideological, fighting varied across the fronts from static trench warfare in France to wide open maneuvering in the Arabian desert, and several key nations were available to the highest bidder. The game will ship with a fully functional editor and LAN and web based mutliplayer. More to come as we progress and as always we appreciate your input and continued support!

The 1.26 update is here, including the new Editor, and a lower price for MHII !

The 1.26 official update is now live. You should be prompted to update the next time you start the game. This update includes a number of bug fixes and significant improvements to the AI. It also includes what many of you have been waiting for--a full featured Game Editor! This editor is easier to use and far more detailed than any editor we've created before. Thanks so much to all of you who participated in the pre-release development and helped us out! The game manual has also been updated with instructions for using the editor. It appears at the very end of the manual as an appendix. Complete Release Notes on this update can be found HERE.

In addition to the update, we have also reduced the price of MHII to $19.99! So get the game if you haven't already, fire up the editor and give it a try. We can't wait to see what you come up with for mods!

This could be it! This update is the candidate for 1.26 release

We've added a bunch of fixes and more features to this pre-release update. It includes a game fix that prevented players from using allied ports, lots more control of adding and modding cities in the editor, the ability to create puppet nations and a Delete Group button that should save you a ton of time by allowing you to remove even a huge military unit group with a single click. We hope this is the LAST pre-release update! If all goes well, we will release the official 1.26 game update next week. For those who haven't been following along with the pre-releases, this new update will include a ton of fixes and new features. But by far, the biggest addition is a full featured Game Editor. It was a long time coming, but we think you will be impressed. So please, create some mods and play them this weekend. We want to hear your feedback and hope you will let us know if anything critical is broken prior to the release.

Editor update: What took hours now takes seconds

This latest pre-release update adds the new "Region Paint" ability. Simply set the nation, then click any regions on the map to instantly change owner and controller. Note that this feature is not fully implemented. By the next update, you should be able to paint owner, controller, and any units in the region, and choose to change only one or two of those things at a time (for example, changing controller but not owner to create occupied territories). We've also added Map Views to the editor! Other additions include key bug fixes to creating nations and placing new fleets. Finally, thanks to the saved games you've sent us, we've fixed a pesky bug that caused the AI to misread the number of enemies and send small forces against large ones. This should reduce the number of AI "suicide charges" in the game. Enjoy!
To do so, click Options on the Main Menu screen and check the box “Pre-release Update”. You must exit the game and restart it for this to take effect. Once you do, the Editor (alpha) button will appear just below the Load Game button. Now you are ready to make your mod!

New Pre-release update with editor fixes

Hi everyone. We've updated the pre-release with some critical fixes that were preventing people from getting a scenario running.

Creating a new war will no longer break the scenario, and changing stockpile numbers for nations will no longer cause the nation panel to go blank. Added a couple new features, including some sorting updates and the ability to set unit nationality. More to come!

Update to 1.26 pre-release includes a full-featured Editor!

<img class="b_fr" src="http://making-history.com/blog/media/EditorUnits1.jpg" height="200" width="405"/>The ability to reproduce entire armies with a single click and a cool new sort-by-nation option lead the improvements for this version of the 1.26 pre-release. Lists have been alphabetized, making it much easier to find that obscure region name! We've also tied list items to the map so when you click on a city, region, or unit group it is centered. This update lets you edit every part of a scenario.
This means for the first time you can create a full and complete mod! We can't wait to see what you come up with!
